Answers to common questions about Rabbit Hole Roasters, including coffee sourcing, online orders, subscriptions, shipping across Canada and internationally, wholesale partnerships, and storage & brewing tips.
GENERAL & ORDERS
Orders are roasted to order and typically ship within 1 to 3 business days from our next production day. We roast multiple times per week and do our best to get your coffee out quickly without compromising freshness.
Very. Your coffee is roasted just before it leaves our roastery, not pulled from a shelf.
Once your order ships, you’ll receive a confirmation email with tracking details. Tracking is handled by the carrier selected at checkout.
Yes. You can select local pickup at checkout and collect your order directly from our workshop at
📍 9090 Park Ave, Suite #200, Montréal, QC H2N 1Y8
This is a great option if you’re local or visiting Montreal and want to save on shipping. We’ll notify you when it’s ready.
Because coffee is a fresh food product, we can’t accept returns on roasted coffee. If something’s off, reach out - we’ll always try to make it right.
Merchandise and equipment may be returned or exchanged within 15 days, as long as items are unused and in original packaging.
For full details, please refer to our Shipping & Returns page.

COFFEE & BREWING
We recommend brewing anywhere between 7 and 30 days off roast, depending on brew method and personal preference.
Yes. You can select your preferred grind (espresso or filter) on each product. If no grind is selected, coffee ships as whole beans by default.
Coffee doesn’t “expire,” but it does lose vibrancy over time.
- Whole beans: best within 8 weeks of roast, often enjoyable well beyond.
- Ground coffee: best within 2 weeks after opening.
For best results, grind just before brewing.
Store coffee in an airtight container, at room temperature, away from light and heat.
Pro tip: coffee absorbs odors easily. keep it away from spices or strongly scented foods.
Freezing: if buying large quantities, freezing is fine. Use an airtight container, or place a piece of tape on the bag's valve, freeze once, and only defrost what you need. Avoid refreezing!
Yes. Coffee travels very well, especially when shipped fresh and properly packed.
Yes. Brew guides are available directly on each coffee page. Plus your bag of beans has a QR code that takes you to coffee's descriptive page!
SOURCING, VALUES & SUSTAINABILITY
We work with small, relationship-driven importers and producers who prioritize transparency, quality, and long-term partnerships.
We believe in minimizing gatekeeping and building real connections at origin.
Short answer: not necessarily & intentionally so.
While certifications can have good intentions, they don’t always reflect true quality, fair compensation, or real production costs. In many cases, certification fees place additional financial strain on producers.
We focus instead on:
- Transparent pricing
- Long-term partnerships
- Quality-first sourcing
- Importers we trust, such as Semilla, Crop to Cup, Qima, and Indochina
In specialty coffee, quality and accountability often go further than labels.
Our bags are post-consumer recyclable, and we work with Rootree for packaging.
That said, we’re realistic. Coffee farming, roasting, and global logistics all have environmental impacts and no packaging solution is perfect. Claims of “fully compostable” or “zero impact” often oversimplify reality.
What we do:
- Roast on a Stronghold low-emission electric roaster. We are the first in Québec to operate Stronghold’s largest model.
- Recycle wherever possible
- Encourage reuse
You’re welcome to reuse your coffee bags, refill them with bulk goods, or bring your own container to our workshop.
Yes and you’ll get a small discount for doing so 💛.
No container? We sell Airscapes, and guess what? Your mason jars work just fine too. (Just make sure to store them somewhere away from light and heat!)
BULK, OFFICE & EVENTS

We believe in giving back: at origin, locally, and through causes we align with.
Each year, for example, our 🎄 Holiday Blend supports organizations such as the Native Women’s Shelter of Montréal and True North Aid.
We occasionally donate coffee, gift cards, or merchandise, within a quarterly limit. Email us at info@rabbitholeroasters.com with details and we’ll let you know if we can help.
WHOLESALE & COLLABORATIONS

We’re a roastery, not a café.
On open days, we usually share samples of the brewed coffee of the day. Occasionally, we’ll pull an espresso or pour-over - but we don’t serve or sell drinks or food like a café.
Maybe one day 😉
